What is Restorative Justice?
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
begins with the understanding that crime harms victims, offenders, their families and communities. Restorative Justice requires
that we address victim's harms and needs, hold offenders accountable to put right those harms and involve victims, offenders
and communities in this process.
A Restorative Justice process attempts to:
• Focus on the harms
of wrongdoing rather than the rules that have been broken.
• Empower victims and address their needs in
the justice process.
• Show equal concern for victims offenders and communities, involving all in the
process of justice.
• Providing opportunities for dialogue between victims and offenders and those affected
by wrongdoing.
